Williamson was an accomplished all-around athlete as a youth, garnering football scholarships to Rochester Community College in Minnesota, and later to Wayne State College in Nebraska, where he graduated in 1993.

On February 27, Avni Yildirim will look to upset the odds in front of him as he challenges WBA and WBC super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. The fight will take place from the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida and will be broadcasted worldwide on DAZN, expect in Mexico.

Yildirim (21-2, 12 KO’s) does not exactly have the credentials to make one think he would have a legitimate chance against Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KO’s), however. His last fight was a technical-decision loss to former champion Anthony Dirrell, and he also was the recipient of a knockout loss at the hands of Chris Eubank Jr. in 2017.

On Saturday night, Oct. 31, Gervonta “Tank” Davis delivered a Knockout of the Year candidate over four-division world champion Leo Santa Cruz in the main event of a SHOWTIME pay per view card from the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX.

Davis (24-0, 23 KO’s) retained his WBA lightweight title and also picked up the WBA junior lightweight title that Santa Cruz (37-2-1, 19 KO’s) held. This marked the first major boxing event with fans in attendance since COVID-19 slowed down the sport, as their was an estimated crowd of 9,024 in attendance.

Later tonight, three-time world champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis will face off with four-division world champion Leo “El Terremoto” Santa Cruz on SHOWTIME pay per view. The fight will take place from the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX, as part of a Premier Boxing Champions event.

Davis will face Santa Cruz, with the WBA lightweight and WBA junior lightweight titles on the line. At Friday’s weigh-in, Davis hit the scales at 129.75 pounds while Santa Cruz came in at 129.5 pounds.

Teofimo Lopez upset Vasiliy Lomachenko by unanimous decision in a career-defining and star-making performance Saturday evening from the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) won by margins of 119-109, 118-110 and 116-112 after 12 rounds of calculated action. And with the commanding victory, the 23-year old now holds the IBF/WBA/WBO titles at 135 pounds.

On Saturday night, Sep. 26, former IBF/WBA junior featherweight champion Daniel Roman returned to the ring to face off with seasoned veteran and former world champion Juan Carlos Payano. Roman pulled away late in the fight, ultimately coming away with a unanimous decision victory, with all three judges favoring him, 116-112.

The fight was a WBC junior featherweight title eliminator that aired on SHOWTIME pay per view from the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. Luis Nery is the current WBC champion at 122 pounds.
