Seems like just yesterday that we were inside of the doors of the Pound 4 Pound Boxing Gym in Las Vegas watching young twins Angel and Chavez Barrientes make noise well before hitting their teenage years.

Now both 17 years of age, Angel and Chavez both recently had successful pro debuts this past Thursday evening in Tijuana, Mexico. The result, that sees both Barrientes twins move to 1-0 (1 KO), was a first round knockout for each fighter.

On November 2, three-division world champion Canelo Alvarez will rise in weight to challenge WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev. The fight is set to take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV, with DAZN streaming the contest.

Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KO’s) and Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KO’s) both bring different qualities into the ring. Alvarez appears to be improving year by year and he is one of the best body punchers in the sport. Kovalev is 36 years old and appears to be on the downside a bit, but he is still dangerous at all times.

On Sep. 14, inside of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, former lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury overcame a nasty cut above his right eye, as well as a spirited effort from contender Otto Wallin, before winning a clear unanimous decision victory.

Fury (29-0-1, 20 KO’s) had dismantled Thomas Schwarz in Las Vegas three months prior in a dominant showcase that saw him score a second round TKO victory. But Wallin (20-1, 13 KO’s) came to fight, and made a go of things vs. possibly the best big man on the planet.

Floyd Mayweather To Fight Again, Just Not Against Anyone You Want to See

maypac-fukuda2

Once again, Floyd Mayweather is in the news. The polarizing pugilist is reportedly stepping back into the boxing ring for another return. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be against the one fighter that the sports world is clamoring for – Manny Pacquiao.

Instead, Mayweather is going to China in 2020 to take on an unnamed Chinese boxer in an exhibition contest. For those that recall, Mayweather had an exhibition fight in Japan on New Year’s Eve and came away with a $9 million dollar payday for less than three minutes of work. It appears that Floyd is open to another financial opportunity of this manner.

Boxing: Devin Haney vs Zaur Abdullaev Public Workouts

On Saturday night, lightweight contender Devin Haney (22-0 14 KOs) faces Zaur Abdullaev (11-0 7 KOs) for the Interim WBC World Lightweight title inside of the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden, New York. The fight will air live on DAZN in the US and on Sky Sports in the UK.

Haney, still just 20 years old, will likely call out unified lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko if he is victorious. Lomachenko recently defeated Luke Campbell over 12 rounds in England, and Haney has been mentioning the matchup as a preference of his. If the two ever meet, it would be one of the more intriguing matchups in the sport, a great youth vs. experience type of fight.

When I started up my new series Lost Files, I knew I would be digging through some throwback photos and going down memory lane a bit.

Photos have a way of bringing back memories in an instant, and such is the case when I look at pictures I shot of Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia inside of Barry’s Boxing in Las Vegas in July of 2014. Garcia was preparing for a fight with hard-punching Colombian Breidis Prescott, a bout that he ended up winning by way of unanimous decision.

On Saturday, Sep. 7, inside of the SAP Center in San Jose, CA, Bellator heavyweight champion Ryan Bader (27-5, 1 NC) and contender Cheick Kongo (30-10-2, 1 NC) fought to a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke in the first round.

The fight was largely dominated by Bader up until that point, as he caught the Kongo brute with heavy blows and even scored a takedown as the round progressed. Kongo attempted to wall walk to his feet, only to eat some more strikes, before gesturing to his eye and noting that he was unable to see. Referee Mike Beltran then decided to halt the fight due to an eye poke, at 3:50 of the first, as the bout was declared a no-contest.

At Hustle Boss, we have been fortunate to have covered several boxing-related events over the years, in and out of the ring, including various prospects from all walks of life. As the years go past, the photos become something like a “lost file” if you will, as they are somewhat forgotten, but still not technically deleted.

I took it upon myself recently to begin sifting through some of my personal photos that I have shot, and it’s been a trip down memory lane. To see the progression made by some of the people featured has also been inspiring.

It can be easy to lose track of time during any big fight week in Las Vegas.

This past weekend, boxing fans swept upon the city for the exhilarating battle between eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and former world champion Keith Thurman inside of the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Pacquiao earned a split-decision victory after 12 rounds of action to capture Thurman’s WBA welterweight title, and it was one of the more memorable fight weeks in recent times.

Manny Pacquiao’s legend continues to grow with his latest conquest of the previously unbeaten Keith Thurman.

Boxing’s only eight-division world champion, Pacquiao (62-7-2) at 40, not only gave Thurman (29-1) the first loss of his career and strangled the WBA welterweight “super” champion away from the much younger Floridian, he also proved that true legends overcome age.

Manny Pacquiao left another memorable impression on boxing fans on Saturday night with an epic triumph over the very dangerous Keith Thurman. Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KO’s) captured a 12-round split-decision victory over Thurman (29-1, 22 KO’s), with two 115-112 scorecards favoring the Filipino legend and one 114-113 tally going the other way.

Pacquiao stormed out of the gates with a big first round, knocking down Thurman with a sneaky counter shot that set the tone of the fight. From that point forward, Pacquiao took control with his quickness, activity, and punch output.
