Roger Mayweather will be the first person to tell you that’s he’s not terribly familiar with Manny Pacquiao’s Nov. 23 opponent, Brandon Rios.

When asked about for his thought on the Pacquiao-Rios per view clash, Mayweather needed a brief description of Rios’ qualities as a fighter before diving in with some feedback.

When advised that the Kansas native possesses grit, fortitude, and a solid body attack, Roger seemed to feel that it’s the kind of fight that Pacquiao needs at this point.

“They gave a good fight for him then,” Mayweather stated.

“I don’t know if he can beat him or not, but if the guy is tough and he brings it to him; [Rios] may get a chance to whoop his *ss,” Roger added, seeming to flip the script a bit. “Because he’s been off for a while too.”

Pacquiao last graced the ring as a professional eleven months ago when he was stopped in chilling fashion in the sixth round of his firefight with Mexico City’s Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas.

Despite the contrasting styles of each man, the one general consensus amongst boxing insiders is that the Nov. 23 Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios match is going to be an entertaining affair.

Taking place from the Venetian Resort in Macau, China on HBO pay per view, the boxing world will see first-hand how Pacquiao’s unorthodox, left-handed attack matches up with the aggressive style that Rios possesses.

While odds makers have Pacquiao a noticeable favorite heading into the match, former two-time Pacquiao foe Marco Antonio Barrera envisions a difficult task ahead for each guy.

During a recent conference call, trainer Freddie Roach touched on a variety of subjects pertaining to his fighter Manny Pacquiao’s Nov. 23 meeting with Brandon Rios.

Pacquiao vs. Rios will be the last pay per view showcase of the year, taking place from the Venetian Resort in Macau, China.

Giving updates on how camp life in General Santos City, Philippines has been over the past month, Roach was extremely upbeat, noting that Pacquiao is “90% ready” to go and that the eight-division champion’s final sparring session will take place on Saturday.

While Roach’s positive outlook towards the forthcoming match was a refreshing sign, it happened to be his comments regarding Pacquiao’s last fight, a December knockout loss at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez, that caught my eye.

During a recent visit to the Mayweather Boxing Club, I was caught off guard momentarily when I spotted junior middleweight veteran Rashad Holloway in the building.

Always one to pledge his allegiance to his adopted hometown of Los Angeles, Holloway is in the city helping his friend Shawn Porter prepare for his Dec. 7 title shot against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander.

Holloway (12-2-2, 5 KO’s) last fought in June of 2011, winning an eight-round decision over Jhon Berrio, and has spent the past few years recovering from a shoulder injury as well as exploring other business endeavors outside of the boxing.

But like many fighters, the itch to give the sport his best continued to nag at Holloway.
