When I swung through the Pound 4 Pound Boxing Gym in Las Vegas earlier this week, I noticed only a few key figures training and lurking inside of the gym.
I didn’t notice at the time, but shadowboxing inside of the Southwest corner of the gym was former WBC USNBC lightweight champion Jesus “Chuy” Gutierrez. Never one to talk too loud, the modest Gutierrez (14-1-1, 4 KO’s) was getting down to work and in his own space.
This past June 10, inside of the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, Gutierrez suffered his first defeat to Demond “Body Shot” Brock, dropping a unanimous decision by scores of 100-90, 98-92, and 97-93 after 10 rounds.
It was good to see Gutierrez back in the ring and in good spirits. Check below to get his thoughts on bouncing back from the Brock battle, his expected newborn baby, and much more.
