According to a report from TMZ.com on Saturday, Aug. 31, NFL quarterback and fan favorite Tim Tebow has been cut by his latest employer, the New England Patriots.

Tebow had signed a 2-year contract with the Patriots back in June, yet received word on Saturday morning that his services wouldn’t be needed.

ESPN noted that Patriots coach Bill Belichick, always seemingly hard on his players, was underwhelmed with Tebow’s performance during the preseason.

It has to be a hard pill to swallow for Tebow, who was let go by the New York Jets roughly four months ago.

Tebow still does have the option of opting for free agency but it remains to be seen if he will draw the interest of any teams.

It seems like just yesterday that Tebow was creating a stir in the league with his miraculous comebacks while leading the Denver Broncos into the playoffs.

A follow-up poll from TMZ.com asked readers whether or not Tebow has reached the end of his career, to which over 63% of the 33-thousand plus voters voted ‘Yes’.

Following his release, Tebow would take to his personal Twitter account, where he issued the following statement.

“I would like to thank Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Coach McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization. I pray for nothing but the best for you all. I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback.”
