Later tonight, inside of the Venetian Resort’s Coati Arena in Macau, China, former eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and former lightweight titlist Brandon Rios will put to rest months of hard work and anticipation when the lock horns on the final HBO pay per view telecast of 2013.

The interest in the showdown has been steadily building and despite Pacquiao being a heavy favorite in the match, nearly everyone agrees that there will be suspense when the bell rings.

On Thursday and Friday afternoon, inside of the Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas, boxing stars of the past and present assembled to discuss the match. Present for various media duties were Tim Bradley, Marco Antonio Barrera, Mike Alvarado, Roberto Duran, George Foreman, Ray Mancini, and Sugar Ray Leonard.

Still sharp as ever, Leonard took a brief moment to give  his thoughts on what he sees as a worthy matchup.

According to a report from Matt Moore of CBSSports.com on Friday night, Nov. 22, NBA star guard Derrick Rose once again suffered a knee injury.

The incident happened when the Bulls point guard was visiting for a game against the Portland Trailblazers.

The injury actually occurred on the opposite leg from the one in which Rose tore his ACL in April of 2012. That injury caused Rose to miss the remainder of the playoff season as well as the entire 2012-2013 season.

On Friday night, there was no contact with Rose, as he simply saw it buckle underneath him as he was running underneath the basket.

No stranger to the world-class stage, boxing great Roy Jones Jr. assessed the matchup with me during a recent rapid-fire discussion.

“That’s a good fight,” Jones claimed. “Pacquiao is clearly the better boxer. Rios is clearly the better brawler. If Pacquiao can make it a boxing match, he wins easily. If Rios can make it a brawl, he can probably can win.”

The left-handed stylist from the Philippines, Pacquiao is a clear favorite heading into his match with the all-action Rios.

Due to the contrasting styles of each man, as well as the added theatrics that have taken place outside of the ring this week, the Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios matchup has taken over boxing’s center stage.

Set to face off with one another on Saturday night in Macau, China on HBO pay per view, Pacquiao and Rios will both be looking to bounce back from recent setbacks in a scene that will surely create serious drama and suspsense.

WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley, who defeated Pacquiao via split-decision in June of last year, showed great affinity towards the matchup during our conversation on Thursday afternoon inside of the Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas.
