Images from Abel Sanchez’s Summit Gym in Big Bear, California, as WBO junior middleweight champion Zaurbek Baysangurov (28-1, 20 KO’s) bites down during sparring ahead of his July 6th bout with talented southpaw Demetrius Andrade (19-0, 13 KO’s) in Kiev, Ukraine.
Sparring with the likes of middleweight prospect Gilberto Sanchez (25-0, 20 KO’s), junior middleweight Chris Pearson (7-0, 6 KO’s), and former ‘World Series of Boxing’ competitor David Imoesiri, Baysangurov got several different looks inside of the ring and pushed hard as each round progressed.
To be successful against the tall and lanky speedster that Andrade is, Baysangurov knows he will have to find a way to work his way to the inside and he is preparing himself for a walk through fire in order to get there.

On this day, Golovkin could be seen sparring eight rounds; three with Paul Mendez (12-2-1, 5 KO’s), two with talented prospect Lamar Russ (13-0, 7 KO’s), and three with emerging light heavyweight Denis Grachev (13-1-1, 8 KO’s).
During the session, Golovkin started extremely slow but by the last three rounds with Grachev he was turning up the heat and landing crisp, viscous shots to the body and head.
Golovkin’s much-ballyhooed power has been the talk of much boxing circles and it’s one of the reasons many are predicting a painful night for Macklin later this month.
