Following a recent health scare that saw him admitted to a hospital in Las Vegas last month, trainer Jeff Mayweather is back in the mix, as the former IBO junior lightweight champion was spotted inside of the Mayweather Boxing Club this past week.

Asked how it feels to reconnect with his stable of fighters, Mayweather seemed to appreciate simply being able to get back into his daily routine.

“It feels good to be back,” Mayweather confirmed. “I got a chance to train a few of my fighters. That was good. I didn’t really feel weak or anything. I’m looking forward to just getting back to normal. It’s a slow process but I’m happy to be back working.”

Former two-division world champion and current day trainer Roger Mayweather will be quick to tell you that he isn’t overly-impressed with today’s core group of star fighters, even admitting that he doesn’t catch a lot of the high-profile bouts that take place.

With that in mind, I was a little surprised when Roger told me that he did make time to watch this weekend’s welterweight title clash between WBO champion Timothy Bradley and Mexico City’s Juan Manuel Marquez.

Facing off inside of the Thomas & Mack Center in an HBO pay per view encounter, Bradley scored a mild upset by being a little busier and out-slicking Marquez over twelve rounds.

Roger wasn’t taken aback by Bradley’s performance but gave him some credit.

In the wake of his split-decision victory over Juan Manuel Marquez this past weekend in Las Vegas, WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley has seemed to gain a newfound respect from fans, the media, and his peers.

And despite the cries of robbery coming from Juan and his team afterwards, the general consensus was that Bradley had boxed well enough and nullified Marquez’s offense to the point where he deserved to be the victor.

Sharing his thoughts on the fight, outspoken trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. seemed baffled as to how judge Glenn Feldman had the contest 115-113 in favor of Marquez.
