The more times passes, the more it seems like we may be seeing Floyd Mayweather face off with Miguel Cotto in a rematch on May 2 instead of a huge showdown with Manny Pacquiao that the boxing world and general public has been hoping for.

Cotto gave Mayweather a spirited battle in May of 2012, dropping a clear yet competitive decision over the course of 12 rounds inside of the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Speaking with Mayweather’s Uncle and co-trainer Roger, he believes that Cotto should stay away from another dance with Floyd.

“He’s going to get his ass whooped just like he did the last time,” Roger stated. “He can’t f*ck with Floyd. He already knows he can’t whoop Floyd.”

Roger compares the situation to Mayweather’s pair of fights with Marcos Maidana last year. In May, Maidana surprised many by storming Mayweather out of the gates while having great success before dropping a majority decision.

Mayweather was sharper in the rematch four months later and in Roger’s eyes, Maidana was outclassed despite lasting another 12 rounds.

“The second time he got his ass smashed,” Roger clarified. “Cotto’s going to get the same thing.”
