Moments ago in Broomfield, Co., just outside of Denver, Brandon Rios punished hometown favorite Mike Alvarado over the course of three-sided rounds in the third and final match in their memorable trilogy.

Rios was on top of Alvarado from the outset of the fight and scored the lone knockdown of the match in the third when Alvarado opted to take a knee.

A ringside physician called the fight off in between rounds, as it appeared Alvarado wanted no part of a fourth frame with his friendly rival.

With this win now in his pocket, Rios improves to 33-2-2 with 24 knockouts while Alvarado drops to 34-4 with 23 knockouts.

Rios will be in line for a big fight while Alvarado, who appeared completely unprepared, may be at the end of his career.
