Jaylen Brown continues to inspire and impress this season.
On Monday night, Brown delivered a standout performance in the Boston Celtics’ 120-112 victory over the Phoenix Suns on their home court. Brown’s explosive play underscored why he’s emerging as an MVP-caliber force this season.
Brown erupted for a game-high 41 points on 50% shooting, including a career-high 21 free-throw attempts, joining Jayson Tatum and Paul Pierce as the only Celtics to achieve such a feat.
The game was fiercely competitive, with Phoenix leading 111-108 late in the fourth quarter with a little over three minutes left.
It was in this moment we would see Brown make a pivotal defensive steal from an unsuspecting Devin Booker as he drove to the other end of the floor before dishing to Tatum for the score.
The very next play saw Brown grab a rebound and score off of a Tatum miss, as the Celtics regained the lead 112-111 and never looked back, finishing with a game-closing 12-1 run and a 120-112 victory.
MVP Case
When Tatum tore his Achilles tendon in the playoffs last year, it was a big blow to the Celtics core, and their fan base didn’t know when to expect a return.
Brown’s all-around dominant play this season has helped propel the Celtics forward, and they currently sit second in the Eastern Conference with a 45-23 record.
Brown is averaging 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists on nearly 48% shooting while being a menace on defense and clutch on offense.
Only 14 games left this season. Expect Brown to continue to deliver as the postseason looms.
