In world boxing championships, training and preparation stretch up to a year, but this may not be the case for amateur boxers. Still, ample preparations remain a crucial element in order to fight well and get a chance at victory. Being a photojournalist in Las Vegas, you can pick and choose from a lot of activities and events taking place in town. Having been present at my third “So Fresh” showcase earlier this month, I’ve been able to connect with a lot of talented minds who play a part in making the event happen.

The “So Fresh” showcases go down every month inside of the Waterhole (5115 Spring Mountain Rd., Ste. 123, Las Vegas, NV, 89146), typically between 9 p.m to 2 a.m.

When it was announced that recreational marijuana was going to officially go legal in Las Vegas, it created quite a stir in the city; as evidenced by the seemingly endless lines of people at dispensaries on the eve of July 1. I have become more and more interested in the cannabis craze that seems to be sweeping across Vegas, the U.S., and abroad, and am going to be actively covering several angles on my blog here at Hustle Boss.

When I came across the people at Cookin’ Budies on Instagram, I knew it was a movement I wanted to follow. Describing itself as “Traveling educational cannabis cooking show”, Cookin Budies teaches people the benefits of using cannabis properly and how it can treat your mind, body, and spirit.

Having been around the Las Vegas Fight Scene for some years now, I have seen my fair share of trainers around town. With so many gyms in the city, there are plenty of trainers and each of them has a unique approach to the sport.

In former kickboxing champion and former boxing contender Dewey Cooper, I have come to admire him as one of the most committed and hard-working people in the fight game when it comes to pushing his fighters. Cooper captured the WKC heavyweight and WKF cruiserweight titles as a kickboxer while also compiling a 19-3-3 record with 11 knockouts as a professional boxer.

I remember hearing good things about lightweight prospect Dustin Arnold a few years back from one of my friends in the South Florida area and made a point to link up with him recently when he was out in Las Vegas.

Arnold was in town this past week with his trainer, former amateur fighter Jeff Poritz, in search of some work ahead of his Aug. 5 return to the ring in Tampa, Fl. and I was able to follow him a few days and get a sense of how serious he is towards his craft.
