On Friday night, June 28, junior welterweight prospect Herbert Acevedo (9-1, 5 KO’s) bounced back from his first professional defeat with a convincing victory over Rynell Griffin inside of the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, Calif.
Griffin offered up a spirited fight but he was simply outgunned by Acevedo, who scored a knockdown in the fourth round while landing several telling, thudding blows.
Acevedo had dropped a decision to unheralded Joaquin Chavez back in March in a surprising upset. Trained by Robert Garcia in Oxnard, Acevedo is now back on the winning side of things as he looks to keep climbing the ladder towards being a serious prospect.

Philadelphia’s Chase Corbin improved to 7-0 with 6 KO’s on Friday night

On Friday night, June 28, Philadelphia’s Chase Corbin got back into the win column following a 21-layoff with a 2nd round stoppage over well-traveled Mexican journeyman Robert Valenzuela inside of the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, Calif.
Corbin established his superiority from the get-go, as Valenzuela, seemed to have no real answer. The fight was waived off into the second round as the ref determined that Valenzuela was taking too much punishment for his own good.
Trained by Jeff Mayweather out of the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Corbin pushed himself very hard in camp and was able to get some quality sparring at the gym. With this victory behind him, Corbin can now eye his next move.

After speaking with IBF junior middleweight champion and Las Vegas native Ishe “Sugar Shay” Smith moments ago, I’ve been advised that his scheduled July 19th clash against challenger Carlos Molina will have to be postponed due to a severe cut that Smith suffered during sparring earlier today.
Smith-Molina was set to take place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as the main event of a Showtime-televised tripleheader.
This is certainly heartbreaking news for the 34-year old Smith, who won his belt on February 23rd in Detroit by outpointing then-champion Cornelius “K9” Bundrage over twelve rounds.
Smith’s spirits were high heading into the Molina fight and he had been getting great work from sparring partners Luis ‘Cuba’ Arias and DonYil Livingston at the Mayweather Boxing Club.

According to a report from MediaTakeOut.com on Friday, June 28, it appears that movie star Jaden Smith, son of Will, and reality star Kylie Jenner, from the Kardashian family, have gone public with their rumored relationship.
The two were recently spotted together at a screening of the new movie “World War Z” inside of Calabasas Commons movie theater. And despite holding hands, as soon as Kylie caught a glimpse of the cameras she appeared a little embarrassed, as she immediately let go of Jaden’s hand.
The two have long since insisted that they are just friends but now it appears there romance may be serious.
