The visiting Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 117-95 in Game 1 of their first-round Western Conference playoff series.

The win can be looked at as a minor upset given the odds of the series heading in.

Luka Doncic impressed with 37 points in his playoff debut with the Lakers, but that didn’t stop Minnesota from dominating, especially by winning the second quarter 38-20.

Minnesota led with sharp shooting, making a franchise playoff record 21 three-pointers on 50% shooting from beyond the arc.

Key contributors included Jaden McDaniels with 25 points, Naz Reid with 23 points off the bench, and Anthony Edwards who added 22 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.

Edwards also showed leadership and resilience despite a brief leg cramp.

The Timberwolves’ physical style of play, depth, and efficient shooting overwhelmed the Lakers, who struggled with energy and bench scoring.

This dominant win puts Minnesota up 1-0 in the series and marks a challenging road ahead for Los Angeles.
