It was a very lively atmosphere inside of the Mandalay Bay Events Center as all the fighters weighed in.

The first fight resulted in Rios stopping Mike “Mr. 303” Alvarado in the 7th round and this time around both fighters are predicting knockouts in their rematch, with the vacant WBO interim title on the line.

“It’s gonna be a really great fight,” said Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank. “These guys are going to come at each other like they did the first time. Everybody should enjoy the fight and we’ll all light up a joint after the fight.”

Arum was making fun of the fact that his fighter, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., had recently been fined $900,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for testing positive for marijuana.

Alvarado seemed amazed by the crowd support he received, as many of his fans made the trip from his hometown of Denver, Colorado for the fight.

“I got all my fans out here,” Alvarado said. “Thank everybody for coming, all the support. I’m a do it for my city, I’m a do it for my family. I put all my heart and soul into this and I’m ready to go Saturday night. The way this fight goes, I’ll be the one with my hands in the air at the end of this fight.”

Brandon Rios was booed from the crowd, mostly from fans of Alvarado, but he seemed to love it and was shouting insults at the fans. Rios predicted a knockout in the fifth round, saying “I’m ready for it, watch.”
