Ever since its launch in March of last year, the Premier Boxing Champions franchise has left quite an imprint on the sport.

Also known as “PBC” to boxing enthusiasts, Premier Boxing Champions features fighters under the umbrella of powerful manager Al Haymon competing with one another.

There have been several PBC events this past year, as the likes of Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, Leo Santa Cruz, Danny Garcia, Errol Spence Jr., Adrien Broner, and several other champions and prospects have all notched high-profile victories.

Haymon is infamous for having the power to do several things for his fighters, most notably being his ability to keep his stable active while offering great financial compensation to the fighters.

And while the boxing public may seem to have a mixed view of the PBC movement, there is no denying the quality exposure that is being given to the fighters.

19-year old Damien Vasquez is no stranger to PBC, having fought on a Premier Boxing Champions card this past October 14 in Glendale, Ariz. Underneath Aaron Martinez’s victory over Devon Alexander, we saw Vasquez out-hustle and out-slug Javier Lapizco over six rounds.

It appears that bout was a sign of things to come, as Vasquez has officially signed on to start fighting on the PBC series. Vasquez’s career will be administrated by Chris Word, pictured above, for Premier Boxing Champions.

Speaking with Vasquez’s father Oscar, he revealed that his son is guaranteed four fights a year, including eight-round showcases and national exposure.

“And the best part about it,” stated Oscar. “When Damien is ready for the world title, they will bring him the champion.

“It can’t get any bigger than this,” Oscar added. “The stage it set. It’s all up to Damien. How big of a star does he want to be in this game?”

Let Vasquez tell you that himself.

“It’s a blessing and I’m moving into the big stage now,” Damien stated. “I’m excited to get going and be a star in the boxing world.”
