Moments ago, from the Cotai Arena inside of the Venetian Resort in Macau, China, WBA junior welterweight champion Jessie Vargas scored the second successful defense of his title with a unanimous decision victory over former lightweight titlist Antonio DeMarco.

Scores of 116-112 across the board were read in favor of Vargas, who has Roy Jones Jr. as his head trainer for this particular camp. Vargas improves to 26-0 with 9 knockouts while DeMarco falls to 31-4-1 with 23 stoppages.

Vargas had been mentioned as a possible opponent for Manny Pacquiao in recent times but it remains to be seen if his effort vs. DeMarco was big enough to get him closer to that shot.
