On Thursday afternoon, inside of the hybrid Split-T Boxing Gym / One Kick’s Gym in Las Vegas, NV, Team Combat League held open try-outs ahead of the launch of their official sports combat league.
We had spoken with trainer Dewey Cooper about the try-outs last month, and he informed us about a “new professional boxing league starting”, with a concept that was similar to the NFL, NBA, and other team sports.
Team Combat League will officially begin in March of 2023, with plans of branching out to Mexico, Canada, and Europe in the future.
Thursday’s open try-outs saw several quality fighters, with varying levels of experience, engage in training and some lively sparring. There will be six divisions fighting under the TCL banner, including one female division (featherweight), and five male divisions, including lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight.
The early franchises are the New York City Attitude, the Los Angeles Terminators, the Dallas Enforcers, the Houston Hitmen, the Las Vegas Hustle, the Philadelphia Smokers, the DC Destroyers, and the Cali Baja Brawlers. Cooper will be the head trainer for the Las Vegas Hustle.
