The more time I spend covering boxing, the more I seem to become embedded in the sport.

Focusing on articles, videos, and photos, there is no better place for me to get pure coverage than inside of the gyms and over the past three-plus years I’ve been able to chronicle some of the finest prospects in Las Vegas and California.

It was August of 2010 when I first crossed paths with Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Luis ‘Cuba’ Arias, as the National Amateur champion was giving light heavyweight titlist Chad Dawson some lively work ahead of his clash with Jean Pascal later that month. I instantly spotted Arias’ strength and aggression in the ring and knew he would likely be making a name for himself as a professional.

A few years later and Arias’ name is starting to slowly but surely resonate within boxing circles.

Floyd Mayweather looking to sue The Wine Bistro in New Orleans for false advertising

While Floyd Mayweather might technically call Las Vegas his home, you will be hard-pressed to find any superstar athlete who travels as much as the multi-division world champion prizefighter does.

Mayweather has had just five fights in the past five years, meaning he has a lot of down time, and he loves to spend his time on private jets while hitting up various hot spots and nightclubs across the nation.

However, one place Mayweather is adamant that he wasn’t inside of The Wine Bistro in New Orleans for a Super Bowl pre-game bash.

Diaz...

By Chris Robinson

Having covered the sport of boxing for several years running, I still feel as though there is much more for me to learn and many more doors to open.

With an interest in creating my own videos that had lasted for a little while, I finally set up my own YouTube page this past summer and have since been looking to hone my editing skills along the way.

As I continue to push forward with personal videos, I always keep an open mind for what other artists bring to the table as well.

Last month, through the magic of social-networking, I crossed paths with aspiring director Andre Diaz, as he took the time to introduce me to his YouTube-documentary series titled “The Pursuit”.

There’s no denying that the tandem of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Freddie Roach had great success during their two and a half year run together.

Having welcomed Chavez into his Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles in late April of 2010, Roach understood that the young fighter had been rumored to be lethargic and uncooperative in camp. Still, Roach was able to sharpen his skills as Chavez continued his unbeaten streak while claiming the WBC middleweight crown as well.

Chavez was hit with a huge blow to his ego and career this past September when he was thoroughly outclassed over eleven and half rounds by Argentina’s Sergio Martinez before a knockdown and rally in the twelfth round came up short. The young prizefighter from Sinaloa, Mexico suffered his first professional defeat, losing a lopsided decision.

Word later leaked that Chavez was set to fire Roach, with either Nacho Beristain or Robert Garcia likely to fill his void.

Roach is unsure of where everything stands and still seems to hold on to extreme disappointment as to how the training camp for Martinez unraveled
