This Saturday night, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev., emerging light heavyweight prospect Oleksandr Gvozdyk will put his undefeated record on the line against veteran Tommy Karpency.
Gvozdyk (10-0, 8 KO’s) is a native of the Ukraine and if he is to get by Karpency (26-5-1, 15 KO’s) this weekend, there should be big things in store for him.
The light heavyweight division is an intriguing one, with IBF/WBA/WBO champion Sergey Kovalev and former super middleweight kingpin Andre Ward, who just moved into the class, likely in line for a huge clash come November that will determine the division’s top dog.
Gvozdyk poses an impressive physique and has skills and power to boot. He is coming off his biggest win to date, a second-round TKO over Nadjib Mohammedi in April, and his trainer, Robert Garcia, believes the world is ready to see his charge.
