Diego Magdaleno and Nonito Donaire resurface at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas

There has been a lot going on in the lives of former world title challenger Diego Magdaleno and former titlist Nonito Donaire.

On April 13th, Donaire would drop a unanimous decision to Cuban stylist Guillermo Rigondeaux inside of the Radio City Music Hall in New York. Despite a 10th round knockdown, Donaire had tremendous difficulty with Rigondeaux’s excellent defense and sharp counter-punching from his southpaw stance as he failed to get into an offensive rhythm.

Following his defeat, Donaire (31-2, 20 KO’s), would undergo surgery on his right shoulder and is focusing much of his attention on the upcoming birth of his first child with his wife Rachel.

Magdaleno (23-1, 9 KO’s) was last seen inside of the ropes on April 6th in Macau, China, as he dropped a hotly-contested 12-round split-decision loss to Puerto Rico’s Ramon ‘Rocky’ Martinez in his bid for the WBO junior lightweight championship. Magdaleno was dropped in the fourth round yet gave a solid account of himself.

Exclusive PHOTOS: Behind the scenes at the Silver Nugget in Las Vegas for the amateur fights

HustleBoss.com was on hand inside of the Silver Nugget Casino in North Las Vegas on Saturday night, as some amateur fights were held.

Fighting out of the Mayweather Boxing Club, Daquan Mays, Kevin Johnson, and Tavorrye Whitaker were all scheduled to see action, although Johnson and Whitaker saw their contests fall through.

A supporter of the local talent for several years, IBF junior middleweight champion Ishe Smith was also inside of the building.

Roger Mayweather claims that Saul Alvarez isn’t the ‘beast’ that everyone is making him out to be

With his May 4th victory over Robert Guerrero still fresh in everyone’s mind, Floyd Mayweather wasted little time in again shaking up the boxing world with another big announcement.

Taking to his personal Twitter account this past Wednesday, Mayweather revealed that the 45th bout of his undefeated career will be against Mexico’s Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, holder of the WBA and WBC titles at 154 pounds.

Some had expected Mayweather, who holds titles in the welterweight and junior middleweight divisions, to continue campaigning at 147 pounds in the wake of the Guerrero performance. His clash with Alvarez is looked at as one of the most dangerous of his career and that’s why everyone has been talking about this fight.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez set for September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas

As seen in a personal post on Twitter on late Wednesday afternoon, undefeated WBC welterweight and WBA junior middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather (44-0, 26 KO’s) announced that he will be facing off with fellow WBA and WBC kingpin Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on September 14th in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand.

The fight, a junior middleweight unification, will be held at a catch-weight of 152 pounds as opposed to the division’s limit of 154 pounds. Showtime pay-per-view will carry the event.
