On Thursday afternoon, Two-time trainer of the Year Robert Garcia spent his last day inside of his personal gym before his latest trek, as he will be soon be departing towards Corpus Christi, Tex. for his involvement in this weekend’s HBO triple header inside of the American Bank Center.

Two of Garcia’s fighters will be in action on Saturday night, as his younger brother Mikey moves up to challenge WBO junior lightweight champion Roman ‘Rocky’ Martinez while Fil-Am star Nonito Donaire meets Vic Darchinyan in a rematch at 126 pounds.

In July of 2007, Donaire pulled off one of the year’s biggest upsets when he crushed Darchinyan with a whistling counter left hook that had the Armenian dazed and on wobbly legs after attempting to rise from a knockdown.

Over six years later and fate has led the two men back to one another. And despite the 37-year old Darchinyan having lost four fights since his first encounter with Donaire, Garcia is adamant that he is still very dangerous for one particular reason.

As we head into the final stretch of fights in 2013, the last pay per view event to close out the year will be Manny Pacquiao’s return against all-action Brandon Rios, who he is set to meet on Nov. 23 in Macau, China in an HBO pay per view clash.

For some, the biggest intrigue heading into the match is what version of Pacquiao we are going to see.

This past December, the Filipino star was knocked out in brutal fashion, as he was left lying unconscious after taking a counter right hand from Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round of their fourth encounter.

Nearing 35 years old and coming off of such a devastating loss, it’s understandable why Pacquiao may have some doubters these days.

When asked about the matchup with Rios, veteran trainer Miguel Diaz, who has worked Pacquiao’s corner as a cut man for the past nine fights, seems to feel his charge will bounce back impressively next month.

On Tuesday afternoon, former multi-division world champion Nonito ‘Filipino Flash’ Donaire stopped by his trainer Robert Garcia’s personal gym in Oxnard, Calif., to finish up camp ahead of his Nov. 9 rematch with Vic Darchinyan.

Speaking to HustleBoss.com shortly before his workout, the 30-year old Donaire expressed just how motivated he was to again be inside one of the top gyms in the sport as he looks to rebound from his disappointing loss this past April to Cuban marvel Guillermo Rigondeaux.

“It’s always great, man,” said Donaire. “You see all the champions. You see everybody here. This is where you’ve got to be.”

While Donaire was initially spotted inside of the gym late last month, his visit was short-lived, as he would end up heading back to his home base of Las Vegas to do some work with his father, Nonito Donaire Sr.

During the first part of my interview with Brandon Rios, the former lightweight titlist expressed his shock at seeing how his former foe Mike Alvarado was dismantled this past weekend at the hands of Ruslan Provodnikov.

As the dialogue continued, the conversation focused on Rios’ own personal battle, as he is set to face off with Filipino star Manny Pacquiao on Nov. 23 in Macau, China in an HBO pay per view clash.

Read below for comments from Rios on the early reports coming from Pacquiao’s camp, his disdain towards HBO analyst Max Kellerman, why he believes that it is his critics who serve as the fuel to his fire, and much more.

The action was once again brisk last night, as a pair of junior welterweights offered up one of the year’s most dramatic clashes.

Inside of the 1STBANK Center in Denver, Colo., as seen on HBO’s airwaves, Ruslan Provodnikov would capture the WBO belt with a bruising 10th round stoppage over a brave Mike Alvarado.

Provodnikov turned up the heat over the second half of the fight and seemed to have the fight all but locked up after scoring two knockdowns in the eighth round.

Alvarado absorbed some huge shots in the 10th and elected to stay on his stool in between rounds, granting Provodnikov with the stoppage win.

Speaking on the tense action that took place inside of the ring, referee Tony Weeks seemed as if he was still on a bit of a high himself shortly afterwards.
