Remembering the Best of CES 2024 Ahead of 2025 Expo

By Dennis Guillermo

2025 is here, and for most people it’s the time to start new resolutions meant to be broken in a few weeks (or days), but for the tech community and enthusiasts it also marks that CES is upon us.

Before this year’s much-anticipated show at the Las Vegas Convention Center on January 7 to 10 and surrounding casinos and resorts, I wanted to look back at some of the best tech from last year’s CES.

WaterCube 100 by Genesis Systems

This one was quite the innovation and impressed me as far as impact and application in addressing a global need.

The CES Innovation Award-winning WaterCube 100 (WC-100) by Genesis Systems offers a sustainable solution to water scarcity by generating over 100 gallons of fresh water daily from the air. This HVAC-sized, IoT-enabled home and office appliance uses Renewable Water from Air (RWA) technology, providing an alternative to traditional water sources.

Key features include high capacity, IoT controls with water quality monitoring via an app, multiple filtration stages exceeding NSF standards, and easy integration into any home or office. Operating optimally above 35% humidity, the WaterCube 100 is slated for release in early 2024. Genesis Systems, founded to combat global water scarcity, will showcase the product at CES 2024.

LG Bon Voyage Camper

At CES 2024, amidst its diverse range of consumer electronics, LG unveiled a compelling concept: the Bon Voyage camping trailer. This iteration represents a significant redesign of a previous, larger dual-axle trailer that resembled a compact mobile home. The new Bon Voyage embraces a more compact footprint, measuring 6.6 feet wide, 12.5 feet long, and 7.2 feet high, prioritizing efficient space utilization.

LG’s vision for the Bon Voyage centers on modularity, allowing for customization to suit various needs and preferences. This modular design enables configurations ranging from luxurious, technology-rich living spaces to more spartan, off-grid-capable setups.

The prototype showcased at CES offered a glimpse into this potential, featuring a convenient lift-gate rear opening that revealed a stylish pull-out wine bar. The trailer was also equipped with a full suite of LG appliances, further emphasizing the focus on integrated technology and convenience.

While LG has not yet confirmed production plans for the Bon Voyage, this latest design is a direct response to customer feedback, suggesting a strong interest in bringing this innovative camping solution to market. The emphasis on modularity, compact size, and integrated technology positions the Bon Voyage as a potential disruptor in the camping and outdoor recreation market.

And for a NSFW find, check out the Handy AI toy. I’ll let the video explain this one.
