On Saturday night, July 23, WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford (29-0, 20 KO’s) won a clear unanimous decision over former WBC champion Viktor Postol (28-1, 12 KO’s) to capture the aforementioned belt.

Crawford dropped Postol twice in the fifth and controlled the majority of the rounds. The Omaha native was poised with his attack and his movement threw Postol off of his game.

On Saturday night, July 23, WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford (28-0, 20 KO’s) faces off with WBC champion Viktor Postol (28-0, 12 KO’s) in a unification matchup on HBO pay per view.

Crawford is regarded as one of the rising stars in the sport, and I was curious for his take on another big fight on the horizon, the Sep. 10 Gennady Golovkin vs. Kell Brook clash.

This weekend, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev., a junior welterweight unification showdown will take place between WBO champion Terence Crawford and WBC champion Viktor Postol.

Multiple-time Trainer-of-the-Year Freddie Roach will be guiding Postol’s ship this weekend and was asked why he has so much faith in his charge ahead of the matchup.

This Saturday night, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev., emerging light heavyweight prospect Oleksandr Gvozdyk will put his undefeated record on the line against veteran Tommy Karpency.

Gvozdyk (10-0, 8 KO’s) is a native of the Ukraine and if he is to get by Karpency (26-5-1, 15 KO’s) this weekend, there should be big things in store for him.

After the 2016 NBA season, this upcoming season will not be the same. Noticeable names will be gone, as well as high profile players who will be on different teams. One noticeable face and name that will be a spectator is power forward Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs.

Since drafting Duncan in 1997, the Spurs posted a 1,072-438 regular-season record, the best 19-year stretch in NBA history, and tops in the four major US sports over the past 19 years.

I’ve been noticing the high ambition and equally high skill level of Jamie Mitchell inside of the Las Vegas gyms recently. Mitchell has hopes of turning professional this year and with the guidance of esteemed trainer and former WBA light heavyweight champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad behind her, she seems poised for a breakthrough.

On Saturday night, July 16, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder made the fourth successful defense of his title with a punishing 8th round TKO over contender Chris Arreola.

The bout took place from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Ala., as Wilder (37-0, 36 KO’s) was simply too sharp, powerful, and active for Arreola (36-5-1, 31 KO’s), who may have seen his last appearance on the big stage.

The Arkansas native first caught my attention some years back during one of his sparring sessions with former world champion Mickey Bey. After some further investigation, I found out that Ganaway had actually fought Bey in August of 2009, losing an eight-round split-decision.
