Each man weighed in at 146.5 pounds, and both appear to be in peak physical condition. Afterwards, you could again see the intensity in Thurman’s eyes, while Pacquiao appears equally as confident.

Can Koepka overcome his bitter-sweet tale at the US Open to win the Open Championship?

CHIP shot

In the field of sports, it’s really important what you’re going home with. Is it a win, a loss, a trophy or a feeling? If we date back to a month, precisely to the US Open, there were two victors there: Gary Woodland and Brooks Koepka — however, only one went home with a trophy.

The notion of clubbing the two with the epithet of victor lies in the intangible trophy, Koepka went home with. Players could win multiple trophies, smash records, and get an awful lot of success under their belt, but winning fans is often an elusive affair, even the greatest have failed to master. As the past tells, Koepka won multiple trophies, smashed many records but surprisingly, the way most of the gallery seemed behind him at Pebble Beach, wasn’t something had we’ve seen before.

Whatever Keith Thurman’s true intentions are, he’s definitely done his part in hyping up his “dream match” with Manny Pacquiao.

Whether he’s simply playing the heel to drum up interest for the pay-per-view audience or his aggressive verbal jabs are a preliminary part of his gameplan, Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs), the WBA ‘super’ welterweight world champion, has definitely generated a lot more drama and interest for his July 20 bout with the future Hall of Famer, Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs).

Ugas (23-4, 11 KO’s) will face off with unbeaten former champion Omar Figueroa Jr. (28-0-1, 19 KO’s) in a 12-round welterweight bout on the Manny Paquiao vs. Keith Thurman undercard this Saturday night. The fight will air as a chief attraction on a FOX Sports pay per view show from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

Ugas is coming off of a hotly-contested split-decision loss to WBC champion Shawn Porter this past March in a fight many felt he deserved to win. Figueroa now stands in his way towards another shot.

It was a festive scene in Puerto Rico earlier this week, as unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr., holder of the IBF, WBA, and WBO titles, was on hand to collect another belt. This particular bauble, presented by the WBO’s own Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel, Esq., was awarded to Ruiz in honor of his historic victory over former champion Anthony Joshua last month.

On hand were former champions Ivan Calderon and Miguel Cotto, amongst many others, who presented Ruiz with his new belt.
