I remember seeing Jessie Magdaleno when he was still just an amateur, and even back then it was easy to spot his potential as a future prizefighter.

Fast forward to Saturday, April 22, and Magdaleno continues to settle into his status as a reigning champion following a second-round TKO victory over challenger Adeilson Dos Santos in Carson, Calif. that saw him successfully defend his WBO junior featherweight title for the first time.

On Saturday night, WBO junior lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko successfully defended his WBO junior lightweight title with a 9th round TKO over former champion Jason Sosa.

Lomachenko (8-1, 6 KO’s), who defeated his third former champion in a row, was a little too much for Sosa (20-2-4, 15 KO’s), who never stopped trying despite being outmatched. Following the ninth round, Sosa’s corner wisely elected to halt the action in the face of Lomachenko’s dominance.

Over the weekend, inside of the MGM Grand National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md., WBO junior lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko successfully defended his title on HBO with a 9th-round TKO over former champion Jason Sosa.

Following the match, two other fighters in the 130-pound class, IBF champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis and contender Tevin Farmer, could be seen getting into a heated argument. Farmer (24-4-1, 5 KO’s) has been calling for a match with Davis (17-0, 16 KO’s) on social media for quite some time, and things finally came to a head on Saturday.

A few days ago we posted that Cruiserweight prospect Yahu “Rock” Blackwell would be fighting in Tijuana, Mexico against Alvarez Vasquez.

Sure enough, last night Blackwell would end up scoring a 2nd round knockout, albeit against a different opponent. A last-minute switch saw Benjamin Hernandez jump in to face off with Blackwell, but he wasn’t able to offer much resistance.

I first started hearing about Yahu Blackwell earlier this year and I admit that he was, at first, a bit of enigma to me.

But as I began finding out more information about him, I soon realized he has a story to tell and is looking to make a big run in the boxing game in 2017.

Respected former pro boxer/referee Joe Cortez spoke to me about his connection to Yahu a few months back in Las Vegas and I’ve been keeping up with the Hebrew fighter ever since.
