Andres Cortes Eyes Title Shot After Dominating Bryan Chevalier

This past Friday night, inside of the Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York, undefeated junior lightweight contender Andres “Savage” Cortes scored another dominant stoppage victory.

Cortes (21-0, 12 KO’s) faced off with Puerto Rico’s Bryan Chevalier (21-2-1, 16 KO’s) as the co-feature to WBC junior lightweight champion O’Shaquie Foster’s victory over Abraham Nova on ESPN.

Cortes patiently stalked Chevalier throughout, and did early damage with his blows. Chevalier was rocked along the ropes in the third round, and his corner subsequently threw in the towel at 2:17 of the fourth round.

Hustle Boss recently caught up with undefeated junior lightweight prospect Andres “Savage” Cortes inside of the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas, NV.

Cortes instantly caught our attention years back as an amateur, and he has since continued on with an impressive run as a professional, going 18-0 with 10 knockouts thus far. Cortes will be facing off with Puerto Rico’s Luis Melendez (17-2, 13 KO’s) on Feb. 3 in Glendale, AZ on the undercard of two-division world champion Emmanuel Navarette (36-1, 30 KO’s) as he faces off with Australia’s Liam Wilson (11-1, 7 KO’s) for the vacant WBO junior lightweight title.

On Saturday night, inside of the Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, undefeated lightweight prospect Andres “Savage” Cortes (9-0, 6 KO’s) stopped previously undefeated Omar Castillo (5-1, 2 KO’s) in the third round.

We’ve been knowing Cortes for some years now, back to when he was still an amateur fighter trying to find his way in the game while still just a teenager. Now, under Mayweather Promotions, the 21-year old is seeing his career flourish. At this rate, Cortes could be in line for some big fights within a few years time.
