On Thursday afternoon, in San Antonio, Tex., Adrien Broner once again came face to face with his forthcoming opponent, Marcos Maidana.
On Dec. 14, inside of the Alamodome, Broner will defend his WBA welterweight crown against the all-action Maidana in a fight that figures to dramatically change the welterweight landscape.
Throughout the lead up to their fight, Broner has been completely dismissive of his Argentinean foe. The trash talk from Broner is a surefire sign of his confidence and perhaps a way for him to get under Maidana’s skin.
In a video courtesy of FightHype.com, Broner took a moment to speak on the fight.
It was at this particular moment when the Cincinnati native actually showed a little respect to Maidana.
“We aint worried about him,” Broner claimed. “He’s going to come to fight, though. That motherf*cker going to come to fight.”
When informed that Maidana had added outspoken strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza to his team, Broner hinted that he would look to employ some kind of drug-testing protocol in advance of the bout to make sure that the playing field is equal.
“I don’t care,” Broner stated dismissively. “He going to be taking that needle. We’re going to see what’s in his blood. We don’t care who is in his corner.”
When pressed for whether or not he had a legitimate contract in place to ensure possible testing, Broner stayed quiet.
