Floyd Mayweather Sr. speaks on the latest rumors of him training former champion Jean Pascal

The gym scene in Las Vegas has been heating up the past few weeks, with several world class fighters and upcoming prospects putting in serious work at various spots in the city.

Even Floyd Mayweather had time to swing by his gym for a few light workouts recently, creating further buzz for his May 4th return at the nearby MGM Grand.

The gyms are always full of chatter and one recent sighting that has gone unnoticed in boxing circles was the fact that former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal was seen training with Floyd Mayweather Sr.

“Yeah, he was in Vegas,” Floyd Sr. confirmed to me during a recent discussion. “He was in Vegas for a good five or six days. I trained him while he was here. He’s got pretty fast hands and he’s got fairly decent power. The work was going perfectly.”

Working inside of Barry’s Boxing, Mayweather Sr. insists the chemistry was so profound that Pascal came up with the idea of bringing his own trainers down from Quebec, Canada and learning Floyd’s technique.

The only problem with such a scenario was that there was no immediate money on the table for Mayweather Sr. and he seemed less than enthusiastic about sharing his tricks of the trade for free.

“He was saying that maybe two fights from now he could give me 10 percent, but the trainer that I am, the knowledge that I know, you’re going to give me 10 percent off the top,” Mayweather Sr. explained. “I’m not no secondary trainer. I’m a top trainer and I’ve got to get what I’ve rightfully got coming.”

It’s obvious that Mayweather Sr. has some affinity for Pascal, but if the money situation can’t be resolved, don’t expect these two together anytime soon.

“[It] might happen, but as of right now, I don’t think it’s going to take place,” said Floyd Joy
