Former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal has made some drastic changes with his career just months away from a scheduled ring return.

Now training out of the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 30-year-old Pascal admits that a change was in order and couldn’t resist the temptation of making a temporary home in the fight capital the world with a move from his bases in Quebec, Canada.

Fitting in well with a gym chalked full of talent, Pascal admits that he is unsure whom his next official trainer will be, yet he has been seen putting in work with both Roger Mayweather and his older brother Floyd in the past few days.

Following a recent workout, I had some spirited dialogue with Pascal, as we discussed his time at the Mayweather Boxing Club, Floyd Mayweather’s May 4th bout with Robert Guerrero, whether or not he prefers to face Chad Dawson in a rematch or target Lucian Bute, and his thoughts on his former foe Bernard Hopkins as he guns for IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud next weekend at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

This is what Pascal had to share…

Making the move to Las Vegas…
“Las Vegas is the town of boxing, man. If you want to train, that’s the best place to train. I came from up north, all the way to Vegas on the West Coast to learn some new tricks with the Mayweather brothers. Right now I’m far from the fight. I’m fighting on May 25th and I’m just trying to learn new tricks. Big Floyd is a good coach, Roger also, Jeff is good. I think those three together would be a terrific team.”

Why Big Floyd is special…
“Big Floyd is Big Floyd. A special man, but I like him. He’s a good coach and what I like about Big Floyd, he’s technical. He’s going to teach you how to do things the right way. Not just to only throw punches. That’s his strength; he’s going to teach you how to do it the right way. So, he’s technical and he knows what he’s talking about.”

Why Robert Guerrero should get ready for Floyd Mayweather…
“Floyd is the man; pound for pound in the world, on the planet. So, that’s going to be a tough fight for Guerrero. But in boxing, you never know what can happen. But that’s why, right now, I’m seeing Floyd, he’s training hard, real hard, like a monster. I even think that man is not human, the way he trains. The only thing I can tell Guerrero is ‘be ready’, because Floyd’s going to be ready for sure.”

Whether he would prefer to face Chad Dawson or Lucian Bute next…
“Honestly, me, I don’t care. It’s either Bute or Dawson; they’re both southpaws, so at least I know I’m going to fight a southpaw next. If it’s Dawson, it’s good. I’m going to get my title back. The Ring Magazine, the WBC. And if I fight Bute, that’s going to be a great fight in Montreal. We’re going to make history back home. Both fights are really good for me and I don’t mind.”

Favoring Bernard Hopkins to defeat Jean Pascal on March 9th in Brooklyn…
“Bernard is so lucky. He’s going to remake history once again. Because I think he’s going to beat Cloud, because Cloud is not smart enough for him. He’s not quick enough. I don’t think he punches hard enough to knock Bernard out. So, I think that’s going to be a tough fight for Bernard, but he’s supposed to win that fight.”
