You will be hard-pressed to find many prizefighters in the sport of boxing who put in the rigorous work that WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin does.
With a second-round knockout over formidable Marco Antonio Rubio just a few months removed, Golovkin has already turned his focus towards his next ring assignment.
Training camp is in session at the Summity Gym in Big Bear, Calif., the gym of Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez.
The 32-year old Golovkin is one of the most active stars going today, as he has fought 7 times in the past two years.
Golovkin (31-0, 28 KO’s) will look for another stoppage victory on Feb. 21 when he faces off with former interim champion Martin Murray (29-1-1, 12 KO’s) in an HBO attraction from Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Murray is as gritty as they come and one of top names still lurking around the 160-pound class left for Golovkin to face.
Stay tuned for more updates from Big Bear.
