On Saturday morning, WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri and his team played host to several onlookers inside of the Palazzo Las Vegas as he put in work ahead of his Nov. 22 showdown with Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao.

Algieri will meet Pacquiao inside of the Venetian Resort in Macau, China on HBO pay per view and judging by the confidence he has been exuding, he obviously is undeterred by the heavy odds stacked against him.

There is definitely a confident vibe in Algieri’s camp and he already looks to be in excellent physical shape with the fight now less than four weeks out. In addition to Algieri going through his workout routine with trainer Tim Lane, so too were his sparring mates staying busy off to the side.

As Algieri’s workout session came to a close, we caught up with his chief sparring partner Mike “Lefty” Brooks, who revealed more about his connection to Chris out East.

“I’ve known Chris for years,” the 27-year old Brooks stated following his regimen.

“We’ve been sparring since 2005,” he added. “He was still a kickboxer actually.”

Brooks sports a 10-2-1 records with 2 knockouts and doesn’t seem surprised to be playing such a big role in one of the year’s biggest fights.

“I’m a lefty and I always come to fight,” said Brooks. “I got hired as the main guy. It’s helping me; it’s helping him.”
