Photos: Emotional moment as Ishe Smith captures IBF junior middleweight crown with victory over Cornelius Bundrage

On Saturday night, 13-year verteran Ishe Smith came through with his biggest victory as a professional, winning a 12-round split-decision victory over former champion Cornelius ‘K9′ Bundrage.

With the victory, Smith claims the IBF junior middleweight crown while raising his record to 25-5 (11 KO’s).

Throughout his career, Smith has endured quite the emotional ride, from spells of frustrating inactivity to some tough losses, but tonight was his finest moment.

Over the second half of the fight, Smith simply willed his way deeper into the fight, upping his work rate and leaving Bundrage without any answers.

With the right people behind him in Floyd Mayweather’s Mayweather Promotions, Smith seemed to be in disbelief as he shed tears while opening up to Showtime’s Jim Gray afterwards.

The tears were well worth it, as Smith is now right where he wants to be in his career.

Expect much more from Ishe in the coming weeks…
