Photos from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. as WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO’s) pounds out a sixth round TKO over a brave but outgunned Willie Monroe Jr. on HBO’s airwaves.
Golovkin was calculated as always, dropping Monroe twice in the second round. The challenger rose and fought on valiantly, even having a big fourth round that saw him turn the tide and catch Golovkin with several flush shots.
The end would come a few rounds later, however, as another knockdown from the Kazakhstan star came from a big right hand, with Monroe unable to continue after rising.
