It can be easy to lose track of time during any big fight week in Las Vegas.
This past weekend, boxing fans swept upon the city for the exhilarating battle between eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and former world champion Keith Thurman inside of the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Pacquiao earned a split-decision victory after 12 rounds of action to capture Thurman’s WBA welterweight title, and it was one of the more memorable fight weeks in recent times.
On Friday night, hours after the official weigh-in, the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame played host to another “Night With Boxing Legends” event. The NVBHOF recently found a permanent home inside of the HeadzUP interactive entertainment center at Boulevard Mall and that is where the “Boxing Legends” night was held.
Notable appearances were made by former champions Clarence “Bones” Adams, Kevin “Flushing Flash” Kelley, Hasim “The Rock” Rahman, Winky Wright, Joel Casamayor, Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson, DeMarcus Corley, Tomoki Kameda, as well as famed referee Joe Cortez, longtime contender Jesus Soto Karass, prospects Hasim Rahman Jr., Quatavious Cash, and others.
Various raffles were held throughout the evening, granting winners such prizes as a free ticket to the Pacquiao vs. Thurman event, a select cruise, and cash prizes. Stay tuned for the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame’s upcoming seventh annual induction ceremony on August 10 at the Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa.
