Throughout any given year, you can find outspoken trainer Roger Mayweather inside of the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas on a constant basis doing what he loves best.
A former two-division champion in the junior lightweight and junior welterweight divisions in the 1980’s, the 51-year old Mayweather now seems to get great satisfaction in guiding the next generation of upcoming prospects.
Having walked away from the sport following a ten-round unanimous decision over journeyman Javier Francisco Mendez in Reno, Nevada in May of 1999, making the move to a full-time trainer was an easy transition for Roger.

Prior to leaving, I caught up with former junior lightweight contender and current day trainer Jeff Mayweather, as we looked ahead to WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner’s match with Newbridge, Wales native Gavin Rees.
At just 23 years of age, Broner has a rare combination of talent, confidence, and exuberance that you simply don’t come across too often. And in Mayweather’s eyes, there isn’t much not to like.

Inside of the Mayweather Boxing Club with Ishe Smith and Hassan N’dam N’jikam
This past October, former WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’dam N’jikam lost his title in a wild fight with Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin inside of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Despite often setting the tempo of the contest, N’jikam suffered six knockdowns in the course of twelve rounds that ultimately sealed his fate.

The more time I spend covering boxing, the more I seem to become embedded in the sport.
Focusing on articles, videos, and photos, there is no better place for me to get pure coverage than inside of the gyms and over the past three-plus years I’ve been able to chronicle some of the finest prospects in Las Vegas and California.
It was August of 2010 when I first crossed paths with Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Luis ‘Cuba’ Arias, as the National Amateur champion was giving light heavyweight titlist Chad Dawson some lively work ahead of his clash with Jean Pascal later that month. I instantly spotted Arias’ strength and aggression in the ring and knew he would likely be making a name for himself as a professional.
A few years later and Arias’ name is starting to slowly but surely resonate within boxing circles.

While Floyd Mayweather might technically call Las Vegas his home, you will be hard-pressed to find any superstar athlete who travels as much as the multi-division world champion prizefighter does.

However, one place Mayweather is adamant that he wasn’t inside of The Wine Bistro in New Orleans for a Super Bowl pre-game bash.
