It had been a while since we’ve been in the trenches with top-flight junior welterweight prospect Semajay Thomas.

The Chicago native, now 6-0 with 4 knockouts as a professional, has a great pedigree behind him no matter how you cut it. One of Thomas’ mentors in his amateur days was and still is Nate Jones, the former heavyweight contender who captured bronze in the 1996 Olympics and now stands as one of the game’s emerging young trainers.

Semajay Thomas moves to 4-0 in Chicago; a look back at the undefeated prospect’s best moments

Earlier tonight from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Ill., unbeaten welterweight prospect Semajay Thomas improved to 4-0 with 2 knockouts after overwhelming Charon Spain and scoring a first round TKO victory. Thomas is one of the most gifted prospects you will see and he seems to be carrying a newfound maturity about him these days.

Thomas trains under the tutelage of Ronnie Shields in Houston, Tex. yet still finds time to swing through Las Vegas for some top level work. Check out some of our highlights of Thomas over the past few years below.

It was August of 2012 when HustleBoss.com first spoke with Semajay Thomas out in Las Vegas. At the time the Chicago native was still an amateur, as he spoke thoroughly on his history in the boxing game and his big aspirations ahead of his eventual pro debut.

Having trained often with 1996 bronze medalist and former heavyweight contender Nate Jones, Thomas has actually been spending his recent months in Houston, Tex., under the guidance of Ronnie Shields.

Thomas still has close ties to Jones and the Mayweather Boxing Club and recently swung back through the gym to get in some work during his latest Vegas trek. Check out exclusive images below of Thomas, who is now 3-0 with 1 knockout as a professional in the junior welterweight class.

Two-time amateur champ Semajay Thomas reveals why his scheduled pro debut fell through and gives more updates on his career

In early March, two-time national amateur champion Semajay Thomas made his way back to the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, as he put in some work with his trainer Nate Jones ahead of what was to be a his professional debut a few weeks later.

While in town, Thomas stayed busy, from running miles with Floyd Mayweather ahead of his forthcoming bout with Robert Guerrero to sparring seasoned professionals such as Ashley Theophane, Sebastian Lujan, and Cortez Bey.

Several people from Thomas’ native Chicago had been eyeing his debut on March 22nd inside of the UIC Pavilion but the date came and went without Thomas ever stepping into the ring.

Two-time National Amateur champion and former #1 Olympic seed Semajay Thomas is back training in Las Vegas at the Mayweather Boxing Club as his professional debut inches closer.

As HustleBoss.com recently reported, Semajay was recently in Colorado Springs helping WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner prepare for his February 17th clash with Gavin Rees in Atlantic City.

Thomas now finds himself in the fight capital of the world and will surely get all the work he needs as his March 19th debut in Elf Grove, Illinois is just around the corner.
