For as many prospects and we have discovered and encountered here at Hustle Boss, I’ve come to find that the ones who make it the furthest in the sport of boxing are the ones who simply keep pushing throughout it all.
Big talk is easy to spit out, but you know you have found something genuine when a prospect can put the tough work before the bravado.
To anyone who has been around undefeated lightweight Kenneth Sims Jr. (6-0, 2 KO’s), it’s easy to spot just how talented the Chicago native is, but he is also very low-key with approach to the sport and not the biggest talker you will come across.
Earlier this year, Sims was tabbed as a sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao ahead of the Filipino icon’s big date with Floyd Mayweather and by all accounts he more than held his own. Pacquiao would end up handily losing a decision to Mayweather and the work hasn’t stopped for Sims.
Weeks later we saw Sims working with WBC lightweight champion Jorge Linares inside of the Top Rank Gym in Vegas and then it was WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford who Sims put in some rounds with.
Sims has kept things busy, as he is now in camp with former WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto ahead of the Haitian-American’s rumored Sep. 12 pay per view clash vs. Floyd Mayweather.
“After some good work with bro [Andre Berto],” Sims posted on social media, along with a picture of him and Berto inside of what appears to be Virgil Hunter’s gym in Northern California. Given how sharp Sims has been looking, this is likely some excellent work for Berto ahead of what will likely be the biggest match of his career.
Stay tuned for more updates on Mayweather vs. Berto as the match draws near and check below for more boxing updates.
