VIDEO: Watch the official trailer for ‘300: Rise of an Empire’

As seen in a post by the New York Daily News on Thursday, June 13, the new trailer for “300: Rise of an Empire” officially hit the internet on Wednesday.

A sequel to the blockbuster “300”, the clip opens with a shocking site, as viewers witness the corpse of Gerald Butler, better known to viewers as “Leonidas”, lying amongst a heap of his comrades.

During a recent conversation with MTV News, director Noam Murro revealed his concept behind the storyline of the movie.

“The idea of this movie was always that it takes place at about the same time of the first one,” stated Murro. “It’s as if you zoomed out and saw a bigger time frame and told a bigger story of what happened in ‘300.’ The first movie speaks to the detail of this sequel.

“It is larger in scale, and it takes place on water,” added Murro, who took over from “300” director Zack Snyder.

“Game of Thrones” star Lena Headey reprises her role as Spartan Queen Gorgo, making sure to get some kind of vengeance for her fallen husband.

“It begins as a whisper, a promise,” she stated to her men. “The lightest of breezes dances above the death cries of 300 men. That breeze became a wind.”

The two-minute, 30-second trailer packs a big punch, from various action and death scenes, to great visuals, and plenty of sex scenes.

“300: Rise of an Empire” is set to hit theaters on March 7, 2014.
