On Saturday night, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder scored the third successful defense of his title with a crushing ninth round knockout over Poland’s Artur Szpilka inside of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In front of an estimated 12,668 fans and live on SHOWTIME’s airwaves, Wilder again proved his worth.

Floyd Mayweather Sr. has been telling the media the past few years that he may be retiring sooner than later.
Upon the announcement of his son Floyd walking away from the sport this past September, following his victory over Andre Berto, Senior has been able to turn his attention to his upcoming crop of fighters. Mayweather Sr. works with undefeated prospects Andrew Tabiti (11-0, 10 KO’s) and LaDarius “Memphis” Miller (9-0, 1 KO), amongst others, and it is now the talent of a new young pupil who has caught his eye.

Having captured the aforementioned WBC strap nearly a year ago after defeating Haiti’s Bermane Stiverne over 12 rounds, Wilder has since scored two successful stoppages, over Eric Molina in June and Johann Duhaupas in September, to raise his mark to 35-0 with 34 KO’s.

When I first crossed paths with Poland native Michal Chudecki earlier this year, I could tell he was someone with much more to his story than you would initially expect.
Then training inside of his new home gym in Las Vegas, City Athletic Boxing, Chudecki was a man of few words but not without talent. Previous training camps with the likes of Zab Judah and Floyd Mayweather, who he helped prepare for his huge fight with Manny Pacquiao, helped Chudecki settle into the city as he gets ready to give his career a jump-start heading into 2016.

On Saturday night, Dec. 19, Philadelphia’s Gabe Rosado returned to the winning column for the first time in five fights with his ten-round unanimous decision victory over former welterweight champion Joshua Clottey on HBO Latino.
Two scorecards reading 97-93 and a third reading 96-94 were read in favor of Rosado (22-9, 13 KO’s), who was working for the first time under the guidance of trainer and former junior middleweight titlist Fernando Vargas.

On Friday night, Dec. 18, an electrifying battle between a pair of unbeaten junior middleweights took place when Dayton, Oh. native Chris Pearson locked horns with Louisiana’s Eric Walker inside of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Airing on Spike TV as part of a Premier Boxing Champions telecast, Pearson came up short against Walker after eight rounds, with judges’ tallies reading 80-72, 79-73, and 78-74.

On Saturday night, Cuban heavyweight and interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz scored a successful defense of his title with a seventh round knockout of Philadelphia’s Bryant Jennings.
Ortiz was aggressive from the start, leaving an imprint on the first from the first round on, before breaking through and scoring a knockdown and later knockout in round seven. With the win, the 36-year old southpaw improves to 24-0 with 21 knockouts while eyeing the likes of Tyson Fury, Wladimir Klitschko, or Deontay Wilder in the future.

On Friday night, Dec. 19, from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nev., a Premier Boxing Champions telecast on Spike TV took place, featuring a lightweight title bout Cuba’s Rances Barthelemy and Russia’s Denis Shafikov.
Barthelemy would defeat Shafikov via unanimous decision to capture the vacant IBF lightweight title. Hustle Boss arrived to the venue a little after 4 pm, as Mickey Bey was in the early rounds of some heated action with Philadelphis’ Naim Nelson.
