Earlier today, inside of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and former WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto weighed in ahead of their big matchup tomorrow tonight.

Mayweather (48-0, 26 KO’s) and Berto (30-3, 23 KO’s) meet on Saturday night in a SHOWTIME pay per view clash that may serve as Floyd’s last and final bout as a professional.

On Wednesday afternoon, Sep. 9, Floyd Mayweather and Andre Berto came face to face at their final press conference ahead of their pay per view collision on Saturday night.

Mayweather (48-0, 26 KO’s) faces off with Berto (30-3, 23 KO’s) on SHOWTIME pay per view from the MGM Grand and while the fight wasn’t at first greeted by open arms from the boxing public, there is no doubt that several eyes will be fixated on the matchup this weekend given the fact that it may be Floyd’s final appearance in the ring.

Maricela Cornejo is back in town for a brief visit, fresh off of her biggest victory to date as a professional. Cornejo improved her record to 4-1 with 2 knockouts on Aug. 15 when she scored a commanding ten-round unanimous decision over Latashia Burton.

Earlier tonight, in Hollywood, Fl., former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs stopped Michael Marrone in the second round of their match from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fl.

Briggs (59-6-1, 52 KO’s) floored Marrone (21-5, 15 KO’s) in the first round with a right hand and finished him off one round later in the second.

It’s been about four years since Santiago (18-3-1, 8 KO’s) walked through the doors of the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Nev. and the 24-year old hasn’t left anything to waste during his training in that time.

Having won his last seven bouts, Santiago’s spirits are as high as ever with the recent news of his signing with Mayweather Promotions. The Phoenix native’s first assignment under his new promoter is a Sept. 8 date in Hollywood, Calif. against Fernando Lumacad from the Philippines.

On Saturday night, inside of the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., living legend and three-division world champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley scored an entertaining knockout over rival Ricardo Mayorga in their rematch.

The end came in the sixth when Mosley caught an overweight Mayorga with a thudding left to the rib cage. The former champ from Nicaragua went down for the count, as he again suffered an early ending against his foe from Pomona.

On Saturday night, inside of the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Leo Santa Cruz overcame a spirited effort from Abner Mares in front of a raucous crowd to capture a majority-decision victory.

In what may be the most definitive fight to date on the “Premier Boxing Champions” series, the ESPN-televised affair had plenty to offer its fans. Mares came out of the gates swinging but it was Santa Cruz who settled down and boxed a masterful fight from the fourth round on.

It had been a while since we’ve been in the trenches with top-flight junior welterweight prospect Semajay Thomas.

The Chicago native, now 6-0 with 4 knockouts as a professional, has a great pedigree behind him no matter how you cut it. One of Thomas’ mentors in his amateur days was and still is Nate Jones, the former heavyweight contender who captured bronze in the 1996 Olympics and now stands as one of the game’s emerging young trainers.
