It’s been a little over a month since his latest performance and Shawn Porter is back to doing what he does best as he has returned to light training out in Las Vegas.

On March 13, Porter scored a 5th round stoppage over Ecuador’s Erick Bone to improve his ledger to 25-1-1 with 16 knockouts. The win helped erase the bad taste that came following Porter’s mild upset loss to UK star Kell Brook this past August.

On Saturday night from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York , WBA/WBC junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia scored a razor-thin majority decision over WBO champion Lamont Peterson in a non-title matchup.

The matchup featured two of the game’s top 140-pounders in a catch weight match. Peterson weighed in at 143 pounds while Garcia was 142.2.

Images from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif. as former welterweight champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KO’s) notches a sixth-round TKO over Josesito Lopez (33-7, 19 KO’s) in the second installment of “Premier Champions Boxing” on Spike TV.

Lopez fought valiantly, as is always the case with the “Riverside Rocky”, but his undoing came in the sixth round. A right hand to the top of the head put him down and a follow-up right signaled knockdown number two, with referee Raul Caiz Jr. opting to halt the action.

On Saturday night, March 7, interim WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman defeated former multi-division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero over 12 entertaining rounds on the inaugural version of NBC’s “Premier Boxing Champions”.

From the outset of the match, it was apparent that Thurman’s speed and power was going to be a big factor, as he was able to establish an early edge over southpaw foe. Guerrero remained patient and kept pressing forward, but he simply couldn’t get into enough of a groove to establish control.

Anderson Silva, arguably the greatest fighter in MMA history, tested positive a second time for Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) following his bout with Nick Diaz at UFC 183. The first test came before he defeated Diaz, but the second positive came soon after the contest.

After one of the premier fighters tested positive for PEDs, Hector Lombard, a top contender for the welterweight division, also tested positive for PEDs. The UFC brass had enough with these positive tests and held a press conference February 18th to discuss their changes to the drug testing policies.

UK star Carl Frampton made the first defense of the IBF junior featherweight title with a 5th round stoppage over brave mandatory challenger Chris Avalos in front of a sold out crowd of nearly 10,000 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The 28-year old Frampton (20-0, 14 KO’s) largely controlled the action against Avalos (25-3, 19 KO’s), who brought a six-fight winning streak into the ring with him prior to the defeat.
