On Saturday night, in Phoenix, Az., heavyweight hopeful Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. improved to 21-0 with 15 knockouts after scoring a ten-round unanimoud decision over former champion Sergei Liakhovich.

Scores of 99-91, 98-92, and 96-94 were read across the board for the Las Vegas transplant, who scores his third victory of the year. With the clear-cut win, Ruiz defends his NABF and WBO intercontinental titles and will likely be in some kind of high-profile matchup next year.

At 38 years of age and having gone just 1-3 in his last four prior to the Ruiz clash, Liakhovich is far from his best at this point but still a nice name on the resume.

Ruiz is as affable as a figure as you will find in the sport of boxing and his thoughts prior to the Liakhovich fight show that he does have a desire to keep taking things further.

“I’ve been putting in hard work and it’s my time to shine,” said Ruiz.
