Badou Jack upsets Anthony Dirrell to capture WBC super middleweight crown

Badou Jack was unfazed by the pre-fight trash talk of Anthony Dirrell Friday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Jack out hustled his opponent and showed great poise on his way to winning the WBC super middleweight title.

Jack (19-1-1) was knocked out last year in a major upset by Derrek Edwards; but won a majority decision in a competitive fight vs. Dirrell. One judge had it at 114-114 the second and third judges had it 116-112 and 115-113 respectively. HustleBoss also had it 115-113 for Badou Jack.

Jack, was born in Sweeden and moved to Las Vegas where he is promoted by Floyd Mayweather’s Mayweather Promotions. Jack stated that he was unfazed by Dirrells trash talk and he needed to stay focused.

The 31-year old’s patience an composure was clearly evident when Dirrell came out aggressive in round one. After 4 rounds Throughout the whole fight it seemed like Badou was out hustling Dirrell.

Anthony Dirrell (27-1-1) suffered his first pro defeat but says that he wants a rematch. However, that scenario does not seem likely in the foreseeable future, as Jack will have to make a mandatory defense versus England’s George Groves, who was also ringside for the fight.

Notes: Hall of Famed Joe Calazaghe made his Spike PBC debut as a guest analyst. Calazaghe looked as comfortable on the screen as he did when fighting fighters sitting his era. Lucian Bute and George Groves were both in attendance, quite possibly scouting their next opponents.
