According to various sources online, pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather may have selected former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan as his next ring opponent for his May return next year in Las Vegas.

The information comes from various sources from Twitter, many of which are based out of the UK.

“Floyd Mayweather has announced his next fight will be against Amir Khan in Las Vegas on May 3 next year,” stated SuperSportBlitz.

Another update would come from MailOnlineSport, which issued the following.

“EXCLUSIVE: @amirkingkhan Amir Khan lands mega-bout v Mayweather in Las Vegas next year. More by @jeffpowell_mail on @mailonlinesport now”

There is no word yet coming from Floyd Mayweather or his camp about these latest rumors.

Mayweather is coming off of a dominant twelve-round decision over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez this past Sept. 14 inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was looking as if Khan was getting ready for a Dec. 7 showdown with IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander but it appears that the British star has elected to forego that opportunity for a huge clash with Mayweather.

It should be noted that Team Khan has since came forward to debunk the rumors, noting that Amir has full intentions of going through with the Alexander fight.

Stay tuned for more updates.
