Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury defeated Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder by seventh-round stoppage on Saturday night in Las Vegas in a big shocker. Fury (30-0-1, 21 KO’s) handled Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KO’s) very convincingly over seven one-sided rounds in a historic FOX/ESPN joint pay per view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Fury and Wilder had fought to a draw in December of 2018, with Wilder registering two knockdowns, but the rematch was completely different. Fury set the tone of the fight early, took the fight to Wilder, and scored two knockdowns of his own before Wilder’s corner threw in the towel in the seventh.

“A big shout out to Deontay Wilder,” said Fury post-fight. “He came here tonight and he manned up and he really did show the heart of a champion. I hit him with a clean right that dropped him and he got back up. He is a warrior. He will be back. He will be champion again. But I will say, the king has returned to the top of the throne!”

Wilder took the loss like a champion and will surely bounce back.

“Things like this happen,” said Wilder. “The best man won tonight, but my corner threw in the towel and I was ready to go out on my shield. I had a lot of things going on heading into this fight. It is what it is, but I make no excuses tonight. I just wish my corner would have let me go out on my shield. I’m a warrior. He had a great performance and we will be back stronger.”

The highly anticipated rematch enjoyed stellar promotion and played host to 15,816 fans in attendance. Fury stole the show and made his mark in the heavyweight division.
