With his unanimous decision victory over Mike Alvarado over the weekend, Mexico City’s Juan Manuel Marquez has paved the way for a possible fifth meeting with rival Manny Pacquiao.

So far there seems to be mixed feelings from fans and insiders towards the matchup, but I recently came across a former world champion who is backing the fight.

Former two-division titlist Roger Mayweather feels that there is no reason to not want to see Pacquiao and Marquez, who have already given us four thrilling fights, square off again.

“They might as well fight again,” Roger said recently. “They know one another and they create great fights. Just like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. That’s like Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake Lamotta.”

If anything, Roger knows, just like the rest of us, what we will be getting with a Pacquiao-Marquez V scenario.

“You can’t beat them kind of fights, because you already know you in a dog fight,” said Roger. “That’s what you’re in.”
