It’s always interesting hearing what legends have to say about another in boxing.

During his 20-year career in the sport, Sugar Ray Leonard left an imprint that was undeniable. From winning world titles in five divisions to constantly facing the best that the game had to offered, there were very few who did it like Leonard and fans always love when he gives feedback on today’s crop of stars.

Asked for his take on the Sep. 12 Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto fight, Leonard doesn’t see any reason than to give Mayweather the advantage.

“You have to give the edge to Mayweather without question,” Leonard explained. “The only Berto that [has a chance at beating Mayweather] is [if] he becomes more aggressive and hits you with a harder shot.”

Mayweather recently went on record with his top five pound-for-pound list, as he named himself number one, Robert Duran at number two, Pernell Whitaker at number three, Julio Cesar Chavez at number four, and Muhammad Ali at number five.

Leonard was asked for his thoughts and didn’t seem to take offense on not making the cut.

“Well, that’s his list,” Leonard stated. “That’s ok.”

As to whether or not we will see Mayweather (48-0, 26 KO’s) fight on after Sep. 12, Leonard seemed unsure but planned to do some investigating of his own.

“I don’t,” said Leonard. “Matter of fact, I’m going to ask him tonight.”
