On Saturday night, determined Andrzej “The Polish Prince” Fonfara (27-3, 16 KO’s) upset Mexican star Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32 KO’s) in a way that very few expected.
Chavez was overall dominated and dropped hard in the ninth round before failing to come out for the tenth in a Showtime Championship Boxing attraction.

Light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara (26-3, 15 KO’s) wins a hard-fought decision over Congo’s Doudou Ngumbu (33-6, 12 KO’s) in the main event of a Showtime tripleheader on Saturday at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, by scores of 98-92, 97-93, 97-93. Fonfara dropped a decision to Adonis Stevenson this past May and will see his name further back in the mix after Saturday night’s victory.
