On Friday afternoon in Las Vegas, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder and former interim champion Luis “King Kong” both weighed in ahead of their big rematch. Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KO’s) and Ortiz (31-1, 26 KO’s) meet inside of the MGM Grand Garden Arena later this evening, with FOX Sports pay per view televising the action.

Wilder is a freakishly athletic heavyweight and came in weighing 219.5 pounds. Ortiz, meanwhile, came in at 236.5 pounds, as he has been working with strength and conditioning coach Larry Wade this camp, and appears a bit leaner.

On Tuesday afternoon, WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder and Cuba’s Luis “King Kong” Ortiz made their grand arrivals inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. The two men square off in a highly anticipated rematch that headlines a FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View this Saturday, November 23.

“We’re all here to see what’s going to happen on Saturday night,” said Wilder following his arrival. “Even though I knocked Ortiz out the first time, it was an amazing fight. That was the fight that I was challenged the most during. I understand why none of the other heavyweights want to fight Ortiz.”

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder recently held an open media workout inside of the New Era Boxing and Fitness in Northport, AL, ahead of his upcoming rematch with former interim champion Luis Ortiz.  Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KO’s) will face the Cuban-born Ortiz (31-1, 26 KO’s) on Nov. 23 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV on FOX pay per view.

In their first fight, Wilder dropped Ortiz in the fifth round, only to see the tables turn as he found himself in trouble a few rounds later. Wilder went through fire to score an 11th round TKO victory, and plans for another emphatic performance later this month.

Former WBA interim heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz notched another victory on Saturday night, but not without some struggle. Ortiz (31-1, 26 KO’s) captured a unanimous decision over Christian Hammer (24-6, 14 KO’s) to keep his name relevant in the heavyweight discussion.

After ten rounds of action, scorecards reading 100-90 and 99-91 twice gave the Cuban heavyweight another important win. But those wide scores weren’t a true indicator of how much grit Hammer showed during the match, as both men were bloodied and bruised at various times during the fight.

On Saturday night, Cuban heavyweight and interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz scored a successful defense of his title with a seventh round knockout of Philadelphia’s Bryant Jennings.

Ortiz was aggressive from the start, leaving an imprint on the first from the first round on, before breaking through and scoring a knockdown and later knockout in round seven. With the win, the 36-year old southpaw improves to 24-0 with 21 knockouts while eyeing the likes of Tyson Fury, Wladimir Klitschko, or Deontay Wilder in the future.
